Taking the photo

In the first photo, “Fill the frame” is used.
I believe that this is a “Fill the frame” photo, because clearly the frame is being filled.
The second picture that was used was “Rule of thirds”.
You can tell that this is a rule of thirds photo because of the way the picture is set up.
The third photo that I have chosen is “Framing”
You can tell that this is a framing photo because the actual picture is framed.
The last picture I’ve chosen is point of view.
You can tell that this is a “Point of view” picture, because the shot is taken from a person’s point of view.

The interview.

Not such a “Good” interview.
She maintains her cool by telling the interviewer that she doesn’t understand where she is going with all these questions. If she had been more aggressive I don’t think the interview would have went very well at all. It is a good thing that she kept her cool. I feel the most important question was when she asked If she had seen the woman who had been arrested. You should remember important questions that have interest on the person that you are interviewing, this will make the interview fun and exciting. If you ever have an interview that starts to go wrong, try to keep it calm and collected and under control. If I could interview anyone on this earth it would probably be one of my favorite singers.

Caught in lies.

Many a time I have believed for a news story to be fictitious. There is a lot of pressure now a days in the Journalism world to have the best article, so people more than likely make up stories. I was not at all surprised that the professional journalists fabricated news for the same reasons as above. Yes I agree with Shafers assertion because it is extremely correct. Even not in the journalism world, as everyday people we live the exact same way. I also agree that Colleges and Universities should be doing a better job of graduating their students who can handle the responsibility because its not fair to the students who are working really hard, doing what they love and don’t get the opportunities that they deserve.

Hard news vs. Soft news

I found an article on www.bellinghamherald.com , that is talking about the legalization of marijuana in Colorado. This is definitely hard news because it has to do with politics. This news article is very well known because it has to do with the government and the president.

The second hard news article that I found was on “ABC News”. It is all about Obama winning the 2012 Election. This is definitely hard news for the same reasons as above. It is all about the presidency & the government.

I also found an article on the government police website, stating facts about a missing man from Blackville. I believe that this would be soft news because it isn’t well known. It is about a man from a small-town place.

The second article I found on soft news was on the “CBC News” website. It is an article explaining to you that the obesity gene possibly could be stopping depression. This is definitely soft news. It has nothing to do with politics or government, and really isn’t that interesting.

Writing the news articles

Citizens of Margaritaville were truly saddened, when a car accident claimed the lives of an innocent family on Monday, October 14th.
With support from the entire community, everyone is bonding as one to get each other through this tough time.
Sources say that the family had been traveling at a high speed, when a moose stepped out infront of them. This sent the car sailing into the ditch, killing all 4 members of the family instantly. The young baby was found approximately 1 km away from the crime scene, Apparently a Dingo is to blame.

Starting with the basics

For this assignment, I was asked to find and analyse three online news story.  I chose this particular one from The Fox 31 website, Which is about a woman who admitted to beating her child, and gluing her hands to a wall.

The first sentence is telling you all about the sentencing that “Elizabeth Escalona will receive for committing these crimes. They tell us all about her sentencing, and a couple of the things she said. It also lets us know how she feels about everything.

As you read on, you are given the most important pieces of information you need to remember after shutting down and walking away from your computer:
Elizabeth Escalona is pleading guilty.
She believes she has no excuse for what she did.
She does not believe she is a monster.

Next, the article gives us the Five W's of their news story.

When: This is a current news story, From October 8, 2012.
Why: The alleged abuser is getting charged with multiple accounts of abuse, and neglect.
Where:  Dallas, TX
What:  It is giving out details on the sentencing of Elizabeth Escalona
Who: A woman guilty of child abuse.
The ending is very disappointing. The woman pleads guilty and the end of the story.

First Newspaper

After taking a look at both Newspapers, I realize a lot of differences and similarities. For example: The newspapers today are much more cleaned up and nicer looking. Also at the first of every paper, the “humble servant” left a small message for the buyers to read. As far as looks, the paper was ratty; it only contained two pages, and items that would interest government officials, military personnel, and business leaders. Also the newspaper had been constructed from half of a foolscap sheet.
No I do not believe that the government should have this kind of power today. Everybody has freedom of speech and their own opinion. Just because the government has its conspiracies, they don’t want anyone to know how bad they really are. As soon as someone says one bad thing about the government they are shunned because they believe that they have this power when really they don’t.

I believe that this comparison was made because it is somewhat true. Back all those years ago they had no source of media other than this, but yet each and every one of us could have contributed what we thought.  I did not find this observation surprising because I completely agree with it. All we have today is basically just an updated version because we have upgraded technology. If it wasn’t for all this new media and technological devices, we would still be using only the newspaper.
I think that these newspapers are still being published for many reasons. The number one reason would have to be that they are trying to get their points across. Another reason is that some people like to be obnoxious, so maybe they just keep the papers going because they know that they can. A lot of these editors and people working with the press do not care what other people think and don’t care if other people’s feelings get hurt.
I would have never thought that the first newspaper in Canada would have come out in Halifax. One would think that it would have come out in a way bigger city with more people to see and enjoy it. Halifax was not settled long before the paper came out, with this being said there would have been a lot less people to see what it was. I think that it would have gotten larger a lot quicker if it would have been released somewhere else in Canada first. By the time it reached the smaller provinces, everyone would have known about it and it would have been a huge hit.
