Media Ownership and Consolidation

The issue that I have chosen to discuss is "Open Internet". An Open Internet means that users can go where they want, whenever they want to. This is sometimes referred to as "Net Neutrality". This means people can create products and services without needing permission. This also means users will demand more and better broadband as they are enjoying new Internet services, applications and content, and unfortunately broadband providers cant block, toy with, or create "fast lanes" for said content. The FCC's Open Internet rules will still protect the open access to legalized online content without broadband Internet access providers being allowed to block, tamper with or create fast/slow lanes to this lawful content.

I picked this issue because I do not agree with it whatsoever. I believe that everyone needs their own privacy whether its in real life or just through the internet/ social media. For example, would you be okay with someone setting up cameras in your house watching every little thing you do? Highly unlikely. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do about this, because it already happens on a day to day basis without us even knowing. The passing of bill C-51 also has a huge impact on this.
